Visitors to cafes and restaurants in Olomouc contributed to the health care of Haitians
During the month of August 2020, guests of restaurants and cafés in Olomouc contributed to the campaign For the Health of Haiti for the sixth time. The entire proceeds, which amounted to CZK 11,600 this year, are donated by the Archdiocesan Caritas Olomouc to disinfectants and protective aids to protect Haitians against the spread of the coronavirus.
At present, even rich and better-prepared countries find it difficult to resist infection. Even worse are countries with weak health and social infrastructure, including Haiti. There is already a food shortage problem in Haiti and a large part of the population is dependent on humanitarian aid. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated the already difficult situation in this country. The situation is very worrying due to the insufficient number of beds for acute care, the complete lack of medicines and the unsatisfactory state of medical technology, such as lung ventilators.
Foreign aid and NGO support are key to Haiti’s health care system. Most of the health budget comes from these sources. The Archdiocesan Caritas Olomouc has been helping Haiti since 2005 and has at least partially contributed to improving the situation in this very poor country through several projects. However, help is possible mainly thanks to all the good people and partners who do not hesitate to support the poor and needy in the distant Caribbean.
We really appreciate all those who contributed to charity collection this year and thank you for your support Bistrá Kráva, Bistro & Bar Konvikt, Café Jan, Café Na cucky, Café Restaurant Caesar, Caffé Trieste, Coffee Library, Jazz Fresh Café, Na břehu Rhône, Traffic Coffee , U Kristýna and Pražírna kávy Kikafe.
