A night of churches in the sign of Haiti
The Olomouc Archdiocesan Charity also has its own chapel at its headquarters on Křížkovského Street. This will once again be part of this year’s Night of Churches. Every year, during the Night of the Churches, the image is changed – a photo in the Way of the Cross there.
In the modern space of the chapel, which was completed in 1999, visitors will discover various symbols. Stained glass windows resembling the way to light, a sculpture of the Virgin Mary made of bronze and glass, the Stations of the Cross made of 14 small crosses, a granite altar and other interesting artifacts.
Part of the chapel’s decoration is the already mentioned Stations of the Cross. Its peculiarity is that the 14 crosses are complemented by a painting, a large-scale photograph, with the theme of charitable service to needy people. This painting is the fifteenth station of this special Way of the Cross. It is during the Night of the Churches that Charita updates this image, changes it to a new one. This year there will be a picture commemorating our humanitarian aid in Haiti.
The Chapel of Divine Mercy will be open from 5 to 11 p.m.
