Alliette works as a cook in the centre of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition in Gonaïves. When her mother died, Alliette was only thirteen years old. She had to take care of her sick father, brother and three sisters. Soon after that Aliette got married – so the family expanded for two other members a husband and a two year old daughter. Large family was sleeping in a hut without any doors, which was not safe. Alliette’s husband started building a small house, he even outlined a detailed plan of house. He is a mason. Archdiocesan Caritas Olomouc donated the metal roof for the family. Metal roof that is much more resilient against hurricanes and heavy rains is often unavailable for poor Haitians. „Thank you for our new house, now we can finally feel safe,“ says Alliette.
