Centennial Lada is heading to Haiti
Zábřeh – Let’s call her Lada. Despite its advanced age, it is very well preserved and can help for many more years… About 100 years old sewing pedal machine will travel in the fall in a container with other necessary things in Haiti. It was donated to the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc by a donor from Zábřeh. THANK YOU. Read the story of the sewing machine…
Let’s call her Lada. Despite her advanced age, she is very well preserved and can help for many more years to come. Ili They built a bobbin sewing machine in a company in Soběslav. Unfortunately, this year does not state this in the warranty card or in the instructions for use. “The sewing machine was probably made during the First Republic. Its original owner was Mrs. Bezvodová, the wife of a fortress who took care of the forests of Liechtenstein. The couple lived on the square in Zábřeh, “Martin Lubič looks at history. It was his mother who took care of the very old lady at the end of her life. “When my mother took Mrs. Bezvodová into the forest, she was angry that such a mess in the forest would not be allowed by the old forts,” Martin Lubič recalls.
Mrs. Bezvodová diligently trampled on the sewing machine and for years let it be inserted into the fabrics with needles in the form of dresses, trousers and other clothes. In the 1990s, after her death, Lada moved to Mrs. Lubičová, then to her son in Olomouc. “The machine just stood by us and actually interfered. But now it will finally be valid for someone, “Martin Lubič smiles. He donated the ancient Lada, which is still in very good condition, to the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc for a collection for Haiti. The drawers of the machine include colored threads, paper for cuts, and even a box with small tools and a supply of needles. Poor Haitian women will soon take advantage of all this. There is also a warranty card and instructions for use inside the machine. And then a letter from the seller Ferdinand Drábek.
Your Blessings,
I would like to send you my question whether you are satisfied with the delivered goods and whether this does not require adjustment or repair, which I could perform free of charge…
The Lada sewing machine, which is about 100 years old, will see another inspection this autumn. At the beginning of October, he will go to the Caribbean with other necessary things. The container for Haiti is sent by the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc with the help of Czech donors. The collection includes equipment for a sewing workshop, chairs and benches, books and textbooks in French and English, hygiene, health and sports equipment, summer clothes and shoes and mosquito nets. The “shipment” can weigh up to 14 tons and people can fill it until September 30.
