The Olomouc Archdiocesan Charity is a humanitarian organization that has been helping Haiti for decades. A few years ago, our employees had the opportunity to work directly in Haiti with a student of audiovisual creation from the University of Silesia in Opava, MgA. Hello Kanyza. The result of this collaboration is a graduation film, which is now reaping success at several international festivals, including the Prague International film awards, where the film won the award for best feature-length documentary.

Right now you have the opportunity to see this exceptional film also in Prague. On Tuesday, May 28, at 8:30 p.m., the Bio Oko na Letné cinema is hosting its screening as part of the Students festival, which will take place in the presence of the creator himself, Vít Kanyza.

“We are now trying to fill the theater of the Bio Oko cinema on Letná,” explains Vít Kanyza. “I want to donate all ticket sales back to a charity in Haiti”.

He himself says that there is a simple reason for the decision to donate the proceeds from the screening back to aid Haiti: “Because I want to! I volunteered in Haiti myself and it changed my life in an incredible way. I can’t do anything else except filming, so I want to help at least in this way,” says the car itself. His film tells the stories of the people of one of the poorest countries in the world. “My goal was and is mainly for as many people as possible to see the film and for them to learn not only something about Haiti, but also about the incredible and admirable work of the Olomouc charity”.

According to him, many festivals have already announced the inclusion of the film in the festival competition. “That means only one thing: he knows about us and the work of Charity,” adds Vít Kanyza. “So far, the documentary has been in India, where the film won the prize for the best student film for the month of May, also in England, the USA and at a neighbor’s place in Košice, where it will be screened as part of the Košice International Film Festival, the day before the Czech screening.”

In addition to the film experience, visitors can look forward to an accompanying lecture by Roman Musil, humanitarian aid coordinator of the Olomouc Archdiocese Charity in Haiti.

Roman Musil will present the current situation and explain what specific projects and activities the Charity is implementing in Haiti.

This event is a unique opportunity not only to support a good cause, but also to learn more about the help that the Olomouc Archdiocesan Charity provides in Haiti.

If you can, come to the Bio Oko cinema and support the humanitarian work in Haiti with your entrance fee. Your participation is meaningful and can help change the lives of many people.
