Olomouc and Pardubice Region – Drink a glass of tap water and pay any amount for it. So little is enough to heal, in some cases to save lives. In August, the Health of Haiti campaign is heading to twenty selected cafés and restaurants in Hranice, Olomouc, Svitavy and Zábřeh.

Proceeds from the collection will help pay for medical examinations and treatment of residents of the severed Baie de Henne area. The village lies in the northwest of a heavily tested country – Haiti. The collection is organized by the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc. The Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc has been helping Haiti for twelve years, organizing the Health of Haiti event for the third time. “Over the last two years, thanks to this campaign, we have been able to see over 600 Haitians, especially children who do not see a doctor. Last year alone, during examinations in Baie de Henne and Petit Anse, we came across 400 different health problems and were able to solve them with patients. We thank the Czech donors for their support, “said Klára Lőffelmannová, project coordinator in Haiti. It is going to be in Haiti again in September this year – soon after the campaign is over. He will then organize another health camp in the Caribbean.

This year, the campaign will be enriched by an exhibition of large-format photographs in selected Olomouc companies. The author Jiří Pasz captured the everyday and yet colorful life in Haiti in the pictures.

20 companies in Hranice, Olomouc, Svitavy and Zábřeh will take part in the 3rd year. Their guests will be able to order a glass of tap water and pay for it from one to infinity crowns. Olomouc Café Restaurant Caesar will take part in the event for the third time. “We care about what’s going on in the world, and this project appealed to us, that’s why we joined,” said Dana Gabrielová, the local operating company. According to her, the company also took over the collection, and the waiters threw the dagger they received from the guests into the coffers. Caesar’s guests and staff managed to raise the most money of all the companies involved. “It simply came to our notice then. Especially when we learned last year that a hurricane and floods hit there, we talked about it a lot here, “added Dana Gabrielová.

The companies involved in the event will be marked with a poster and leaflets. The Cheers to Haiti campaign will run for the entire month of August.
