Olomouc – A big surprise was prepared by the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc by donors from all over the Czech Republic. They filled the container for Haiti with their generosity in less than two months. Inside, there is only room for sports and school supplies for children. The material collection was originally scheduled to end on September 30.

The container for Haiti will be sent by the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc with the help of Czech donors this autumn. At the same time, it is already almost full. “We were pleasantly surprised by the great interest of individuals, schools and various companies. Since the second half of June, when the collection began, we have been contacted by many people of good will. In less than two months, they contributed more than forty pedal sewing machines, a large number of chairs and benches, and other furniture. Many also brought fabrics, colored threads, needles and other necessary things for the sewing workshop or crutches and other medical supplies to the Charity in the Archdiocese of Olomouc. Donors also contributed to us with tools, as well as work equipment such as shovels, watering cans, brooms, ”said Klára Lőffelmannová, project coordinator in Haiti.

The container will be filled much earlier than expected. Currently, there is only room left for sports equipment and school supplies for children. “We ask donors, for example, for skipping ropes, balls or, for example, scooters and other similar sports equipment from which their children have already grown. In Haitian schools, school supplies will also help a lot – for example, notebooks, drawing supplies or even school backpacks and cases, “said an employee of the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc.

The cargo will leave for Haiti in November, and should reach its destination probably during January next year. The material collection will help the inhabitants of the severed northwestern part of the country, in the Baie de Henne and Gonaïves. The charity has been operating on the site for 12 years. Most recently, with the help of the Czech public, it helped restore the Haitian shelter, which was destroyed last October by Hurricane 4th degree Matthew.

We thank the donors for their support. For being able to help in Haiti…
