For security reasons, we are moving the autumn mission to Haiti to the next six months.

The current security situation with regard to the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 in the country has somewhat calmed down the street riots and storms between gangs so alive last autumn, which canceled the monitoring mission in Haiti in 2019. However, it is the reason why We will not go to Haiti this year either.

“It is better to infect coronavirus in the Czech Republic than in Haiti,” says a doctor who has been traveling to Haiti with the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc for several years. “Medical care is there in a very sad state, even under normal conditions. The spread of the virus and the subsequent security measures are only making the situation on the Haitian island of Hispaniola more difficult. “

The mission has therefore been postponed to spring 2021. Its implementation in an alternative period will be assessed according to the current situation in terms of both health and safety according to current reports from partners in Haiti.
