_Přednáška Jihlava

Jihlava, April 1–2, 2025 –
During the first days of April, two lectures on humanitarian aid in Haiti were held in Jihlava, organized for students by the Haiti coordinator from the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc, Mgr. Roman Musil. The events were met with exceptionally positive responses and strong interest from young attendees.

The first session took place on April 1 at the Dukla cinema and was attended by over 150 students from Jan Masaryk Grammar School. After a brief introduction, the film One Day in Haiti by director Vítek Kaniza was screened, offering an authentic insight into the daily life of people on this Caribbean island. The film served as a powerful impulse for the subsequent discussion, during which students asked numerous questions and actively engaged in a debate about development cooperation and the specific aid provided by Czech donors and volunteers.

The second lecture was held the following day, April 2, in the music hall of the Secondary School of Social Work near the Church of Our Lady. Although it was intended for only two classes, the atmosphere was very friendly and marked by deep interest in the challenges facing Haiti. The students showed empathy and a genuine desire to learn how to help people in need.

“Meeting young people always fills me with hope. It’s wonderful to see that today’s students are thinking about the world around them and are not indifferent to the fate of people in other parts of the world,” said Roman Musil after the lectures.

We thank all the participating schools, teachers, and students for their openness and active involvement. We believe that these events not only inform but also inspire further acts of solidarity and help.
