An Evening for Haiti in Medlov: Film Screening, Conversation, and Conc
On Thursday, April 24, 2025, a special evening dedicated to life in Haiti took place at the parish house in Medlov.
The evening’s program began with the screening of the documentary “A Day in Haiti”, which offered a compelling glimpse into the everyday reality of children and their families—from early morning preparations for school to evening chores at home. Though materially poor, the environment portrayed was rich in relationships and faith.
The main talk started at 6:00 p.m., but due to great interest and many questions from the audience, the discussion continued until 9:00 p.m. Throughout the evening, participants heard many inspiring stories of direct aid, the importance of education for Haitian children, and the value of long-term partnership in a place where even a small gesture can work a great miracle.
The event was attended by about 40 parishioners of all ages from Medlov and nearby villages—from children and parents to seniors. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of genuine interest.
Thanks to voluntary donations, a beautiful sum of CZK 6,500 was raised. This amount will cover a full year of school support for one child in Haiti through the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc’s Distance Adoption® program. Thanks to the generosity of those present, one specific boy or girl will now have access for a whole year to education, schoolbooks, a uniform, basic medical care, and regular meals.
We thank everyone who came, listened, asked questions, and contributed. Every gift, every question, every expression of interest makes a real difference.
Evenings like this remind us that help begins with listening—and once someone touches Haiti with their heart, they remain forever connected to this country.
