Olomouc – The Container for Haiti material collection surprisingly ends a month earlier than planned. In just two months, the donors managed to accumulate once much-needed things. THANK YOU. The container sails to the Caribbean once as big. He will be sent on a journey by the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc this autumn, he should probably reach his destination in January 2018…

The Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc thanks all people of good will. They managed to exceed the capacity of the container already in the summer. “We are closing the collection on August 31, which is a month earlier than we had planned. Instead of a twenty-foot container, we will also send a forty-foot container to the Caribbean, ”outlined Klára Lőffelmannová from the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc.

The most common gift was pedal sewing machines, which are to equip a sewing workshop in Gonaïves. There, poor Haitians learn the craft while sewing school uniforms, which are mandatory, and many Haitian parents do not have the money for them. “Donors contributed about eighty sewing machines to the container. These will be checked by repairmen in the coming weeks and they will be prepared for a monthly voyage by sea. Furthermore, people often brought us fabrics and other equipment to the sewing workshop, we received 20 scooters and 50 balls from one company, people and some companies also contributed tools to us, “described Klára Lőffelmannová, adding that she will also store a lot of chairs and school chairs in the container. benches, school supplies, summer clothes, crutches and other medical aids.

The material collection will help especially in Gonaïves, and then in Baie de Henne. The Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc has been operating in these places for many years (8 years in Gonaïves, 12 years in Baie de Henne). Most recently, humanitarian workers secured the construction of roofs destroyed by Hurricane Matthew for Haitians in October last year.
