Olomouc – The 40-foot container will be sent by the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc in Haiti at the end of November. Until then, however, all items from the material collection need to be sorted, cleaned or repaired. Caritas is now looking for helpers to help her prepare the necessary things for a monthly sea voyage. In return, he offers them to “get to know Haiti better.”

“These days we need to sort clothes, we also need to wash and disinfect furniture and crutches, clean benches and also sort donated things according to their use. We would really appreciate help from volunteers, “said Jana Vážanová, the coordinator of the Container for Haiti collection, adding that the area of helpers would be the Olomouc Archdiocesan Charity complex in Křížkovského Street or the charity warehouse on the outskirts of Olomouc. It depends on what activities they would be willing to help with.

Those interested can register these days by e-mail: jana.vazanova@acho.charita.cz or by phone: 581 115 218.

Volunteers will work in a pleasant atmosphere, look under the cover of the Container for Haiti collection, get acquainted with the activities of Caritas and can look forward to talking to humanitarian worker Klára Lőffelmannová, who will share her experiences after returning from the autumn mission to Haiti.

The Container for Haiti collection ended a month earlier than originally planned. People of good will managed to accumulate as much material help as expected. Dozens of pedal sewing machines, fabrics and other sewing workshop equipment, crutches and other medical aids, hygiene products, summer clothes and shoes, chairs and school desks, scooters, tools and other things should sail into the Caribbean in a container.
