Olomouc, Haiti – The last week of the For Health Haiti Campaign is coming before the guests of the 13 participating companies in Olomouc can order a glass of water and pay any amount for it. This will help ensure health care for people, especially children, in remote areas of Haiti. Guests of the Coffee Library, Bistros & Bar Konvikt and the restaurant and pizzeria U Kristýna can also enjoy a gastronomic surprise. Delicacies prepared from genuine Haitian coffee.

Desserts, creamy cupcakes and other sweets from Haitian coffee will liven up the 5th For Health Haiti campaign since Monday, August 26th. For example, in the Coffee Library. “Our guests will enjoy tiramisu and various desserts that will be decorated with coffee beans,” says Barbora Navrátilová on behalf of the Coffee Library.

Haitian surprise awaits those who visit Konvikt. “On this special occasion we will prepare financiers with walnuts and coffee cream,” explains Radim Měsíc from Konvikt.

People will also taste and smell Haiti in a special weekly offer of the restaurant and pizzeria U Kristýna, from August 27th to September 2th. “We always have dessert in this offer, this time we will prepare a slice with the flavor of Haitian coffee for our guests for the last days of August,” says Josef Capík.

This year, 13 cafés and restaurants in Olomouc joined the campaign. Their employees and guests will thus support access to health care in Haiti. Last year, we managed to raise 25 616 crowns. “Thanks to these contributions, we were able to treat over 360 needy people, especially children, for example in Baie de Henne and Gonaïves, where we have been operating for many years. Many Haitians are dying of trivial illness because they do not have enough food, vitamins or quality drinking water. They are more vulnerable,” says Klára Lőffelmannová of the Archdiocesan Caritas Olomouc, which coordinates projects in Haiti and goes on a monthly mission to the Caribbean once a year.

The Archdiocesan Caritas Olomouc has been helping in Haiti since 2005. Its main project is Child sponsorship programme, thanks to which the poorest children receive education at school, as well as one hot meal a day. In addition, Caritas is helping the Haitian communities by conducting medical examinations, materially or disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes that are typical of the Caribbean region.
