Lecture on Haiti at Otto Wichterle Primary School in Prostějov
On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, a lecture promoting the Adopce na dálku® (Distance Adoption) project took place at Otto Wichterle Primary School in Prostějov. The programme focused on life in Haiti and long-term humanitarian assistance in this Caribbean country. It was delivered over four class periods and was intended for pupils of the upper level of primary school.
From the outset, the lecture was designed as an interactive educational programme. Through a presentation, pupils learned basic information about Haiti, the everyday life of its inhabitants, and the concrete forms of support provided through the Adopce na dálku® project, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare and social support for children. An important part of the programme consisted of real-life stories of children supported by the project, which helped present the topic in a personal and accessible way.
Pupils actively engaged in the programme, asked questions and openly discussed the meaning of solidarity and the possibilities of helping people in poorer parts of the world. Their interest in the topic was evident throughout the entire session.
After the teaching part of the programme, the event continued with a discussion with the school’s teachers, focusing on opportunities for further cooperation and on the importance of global development education in primary schools.
The meeting took place in a very friendly and open atmosphere and confirmed that the topic of Haiti and helping children in need resonates with the younger generation as well. We would like to thank Otto Wichterle Primary School in Prostějov for the invitation and the warm welcome.
